Barn Conversion in Abbots Leigh
Conversion from barn to two floor home
Project Outline
Foley Allan were instructed by the client to manage a large and complex barn conversion project in Abbots Leigh following the successful delivery of their Stoke Lane dental practice refurbishment and extension. The project presented significant challenges including restricted site access, structural instability and extensive compliance requirements involving Planning, Building Control, ecology and warranty providers. The original concrete rib structure could not be demolished, so Foley Allan coordinated the design and installation of a full steel exoskeleton to stabilise and support the building. The team provided comprehensive project management, budget control and coordination throughout and delivered the completed property in time for the client to move in by Christmas 2024 as promised.
The result is a truly exceptional one off residential home blending original form with premium contemporary living.

Foley Allan were instructed by us to update and extend our busy Dental Practice in Stoke Lane.
Having been delighted with not only the work that was done, the great team they have and our virtually stress-free relationship, we instructed them again to manage a very large and complex barn conversion in Abbots Leigh.
This job was not without challenges, from the size of the project to the access to the barn. Add to this the mountain of box ticking and paperwork needed to satisfy the Planners, Building Control, ecology, warranty providers, the list rather goes on, it was far from straightforward.
We were not allowed to demolish the crumbling concrete rib structure, so Foley Allan had to organise the design and fixing of an entire steel exoskeleton to it.
To summarise, they gave us a budget estimate, took care of all the paperwork and compliances and, having started in earnest in January 2024, told us we would spend Christmas (2024) in our new home.
We were once again delighted with what Foley Allan achieved, and needless to say we spent Christmas as promised in our fabulous new home.
Since then, as is usual, we have wanted a few other little bits and bobs done, and it is reassuring to know that Don, Mike and Peter are always only one phone call away.
